The Respect Work Bill of 2023 introduced a significant shift in how organisations must approach workplace safety and compliance. The positive duty requires employers to take a proactive step to eliminate sexual harassment, sex-based discrimination, and hostile work environments.

While the positive duty is broad in scope, the Australian Human Rights Commission has recommended the use of anonymous reporting platforms to raise concerns about workplace behaviour.
